Chorsee vs Neat Kid vs Family Checklist: Review (2026)
A family chore app should do one thing well: show everyone what needs doing this week, and make it easy to tick off. We compared Family Checklist, Chorsee and Neat Kid on exactly that, plus price, setup and what your kids see, so you can pick one without installing all three.
How we tested. We ran Family Checklist and Chorsee, both from Google Play, on one Android phone from October 2 to 8, 2026, with the same family: a parent, Alex, and two kids, Emma and Leo. Chorsee's guest mode needs no account, like Family Checklist; Neat Kid needs a Google or Apple sign-in, so we used a test Google account. Neat Kid's prices appear in euros because that account is in Portugal. Family Checklist is our app, so we put it first; every price, limit and screen below is what the apps showed on our test phone or in their store listings.
The short answer
- Family Checklist for a calm family week chart with parents on it too and a printable fridge chart. A parent plus two kids stay free with no time limit; Premium is $29.99 a year or $49.99 once, below Chorsee.
- Chorsee if points per chore are your system and you have up to ten chores in total; missed days show as red crosses. Plus is $8.99 a month, from $39.99 a year or from $119.99 once.
- Neat Kid if you have one young child who likes stars and you are ready to pay for rewards; a second child needs Premium.

The Week Chart

everyone's week, done in green

red crosses for missed days
Both apps show the whole week for every child. The difference is the feeling on Monday morning. Days nobody ticked turn into red crosses in Chorsee; in Family Checklist they simply stay blank. Family Checklist only colors what got done, so a slow start doesn't look like failure, and a parent can sit on the same chart with their own tasks. In Family Checklist you tick right on the chart; Chorsee's chart is for viewing, and ticking happens in each child's list.
Where the Free Version Stops

3 tasks each, free for good

10 chores for the whole family
Family Checklist keeps three tasks per person free with no time limit, while Chorsee gives the whole family ten chores and puts custom rewards, notes, photo proof and allowance tracking behind Plus. Free covers any three people: you and two kids, or two parents and a child. A fourth person, or the chart on a second phone, is Premium.
A Second Child

three family members, free

a 2nd child or any reward: Premium
Most families have more than one child, and this is where the free versions split. Family Checklist lets you add three family members, kids or adults, without paying. Chorsee lets you add any number of children within its ten chores. Neat Kid stops at the first: tapping "Add Kid Profile" opened the Premium screen above, and so did "Add Reward".
What Your Kids See

Leo's tab

Emma's list, with points
Kids in both apps get their own list: in Family Checklist by tapping their name, in Chorsee through child mode with an optional PIN. Chorsee adds points to every chore, which suits kids who like keeping score. Family Checklist keeps the list to the tasks themselves and leaves rewards to you; if you want ideas, see ten ways to motivate kids to do chores and should you pay kids for chores.
On the Fridge, Too

Family Checklist is the only one of the three where we found a printable family chart: this week's PDF is free, and next weeks and stickers come with Premium. Many younger kids follow a paper chart on the fridge more easily than an app on a parent's phone, and a printed chart works on days when nobody wants screens. For paper-only families, see how to make a chore chart work during the school year.
Chorsee Review: When It's the Better Pick
If points are the heart of your system and you have up to ten chores in total, Chorsee's free version is generous and its chore editor is detailed. It also fits more chores per child for free: ten chores for the family means two kids can have four or five each, where Family Checklist stops at three per person. If you have one child of ages 5 to 8 who loves stars, Neat Kid is free for that child, though rewards need Premium. For a family that wants one calm chart for everyone, parents included, on the phone and on the fridge, with a parent and two kids free, Family Checklist is the better fit. Our Joon app review covers the game-style option, and the roundup of seven chore apps covers more. Age-appropriate ideas are in chores for 5-year-olds and chores for 8-year-olds.
